Banditry in Ida-Virumaa

2020-2021 "Banditry in Ida-Virumaa" is my first large-scale project, which includes a music video, photographs, paintings, a magazine, graffiti, and even 3D art.

The idea for the project came to me when I was studying in Tartu art college. After answering the question "where are you from?," "Ida-Virumaa". People would say, "Wow, you're from that banditry-ridden Ida-Virumaa." Without much hesitation, I decided to read the book "Banditry in Ida-Virumaa" by Svetlana Loginova, which inspired my project.

The main idea of the project was to convey the aesthetics of that time, which included fear, hunger, and inhumanity. This was what the 90s were about, not only in northeastern Estonia but throughout the former Soviet Union.

The peculiarity of my project is that the total cost is 0€!!!!!

All participants took the initiative in the project as an idea!!!! Thank you everyone again for participating!

The 90s were a scary and amazing time. The most influential forces were organized crime groups (OCGs). In this video clip, I wanted to touch upon not only the topic of banditry, but also everyday problems. The main character is the son of a crime boss who remembers his family through the years. The father is a ruthless gangster who neglects not only his organized crime group, but also his family, which ultimately results in reprisals for him. The life of the eldest daughter is also shown. Drugs, creativity and a sad ending.

The outfits for the video were thought out very well before filming, but due to the fact that there was no budget in general, some outfits still did not come to life. But I'm glad that we were able to find most of it

Hands as a symbol of the devil who drags the corpses of bandits to hell. And calligraphy is a conspiracy against them. The graffiti was done in 5 days (including preparation). We worked at night for the most part, as the days were very hot.
